What extraction accomplishes
Removing bulk water reduces the amount that must evaporate during drying and can make affected areas easier to inspect. The right approach depends on the amount of water, the surfaces involved and whether the water may contain contamination.
Where hidden moisture can remain
Even after floors look dry, moisture may remain under carpet, beneath floating floors, inside baseboards, behind drywall or within subflooring. That is why extraction and structural drying are related but distinct steps.
When DIY removal may not be enough
A small clean-water spill on a hard surface may be manageable with household cleanup. Larger releases, water that has spread into assemblies, or water from a potentially contaminated source can require more specialized equipment and precautions.
